Yesterday Fastbrakes and Hasport finished the installation of the Ultra Racing fender braces on the TurboFit.
These braces will increase the rigidity of the front section of the car and provide a much stiffer platform so the BC Coilovers can be more effective when driving fast.
We had to make some plates to provide a thicker material for the braces to bolt to, as the metal on the upper section is very thin. We first marked the area where the plates were to be spot welded on and the used a holesaw to provide holes large enough for the nuts we welded to the back side of each plate. Once the plates were in place we then were careful to only weld in a few spots as we didn't want to burn through the thin sheetmetal. By using an oval hole in the plate we were able to increase the number of welds and provide a more secure footing for the brace.
Installation went smoothly since the braces have slotted holes to allow for minor front to rear adjustment.
Next up is the final fitting of the rear disc conversion park cable brackets.

Welcome back to the Fastbrakes blog. It's been way too long since I have updated the activities we at Fastbrakes have been involved in so I'll make it brief.
In the past few years the market for brake upgrades has changed dramatically, especially in terms of the core kits we make for the 1988-2000 Honda Civic. Many of those cars have now been passed down to their 3rd or 4th owners and they are no longer being modified with engine swaps etc. As a result our business has shifted to the newer cars as well as the Accords and the Acura TSX and TL.
There are still plenty of the early Civics out there but they are now at least 18 years old, which means they are getting a bit worn out. In light of this we have decided to venture into a slightly newer market and are now working on the 2007+ Honda Fit as the platform of the future.
The Fit is a popular car, and now that they are over 10 years old they are plentiful to use as projects. We have stated a new project on a 2007 Fit; swapping in the new 1.5 Turbo engine from the 2016+ Civic. Working with Hasport, we have already converted the Fit to the 11.6" 4 piston front brake kit as well as converted the read drums to discs. Next step is to get the engine mounts made by Hasport and drop in the motor and transmission.
We are also installing a lot of other parts to make the Fit a capable track car, and we'll detail that in the next few posts. Stay tuned for more projects and kit updates for a lot more cars.

Scion IQ show car and other new kits
Fastbrakes just finished the first test fitting for the 11" Dynalite 4 piston kit on the 2012 Scion IQ show car with excellent results. We should have these ready when the cars hit the showrooms later this year.
Fastbrakes also attended the Classic Japanese Car show at the Queen Mary in Long Beach this past weekend. Saw many very cool cars, met a lot of nice people and caught up a bit with Bisi from Bisimoto Engineering.

Fastbrakes
Welcome to the Fastbrakes Blog!
We'll be posting the development of the latest brake kits as well as features on our current offerings. We'll be posting our customers race results and other important race related information.
Our latest project is the new Scion IQ; we're working with a well known shop from LA on designing and installing a 4 wheel disc brake upgrade on the car. More on that one later.
We also have just finished a kit for the Lexus SC series and should see that in a magazine article in a couple of months. We also are working on a few new kits for the older Toyota Corollas as well as the Nissan 280ZX and Datsun 510.
